About the role
DevOps Engineer Specialist (AWS & Java)
An opportunity to join the Market Platforms organization in a strong and experienced team of Software Development and DevOps specialists to build, support and enhance operational efficiency of numerous applications, critical to running Nasdaq markets on 23 x 5 online schedule.
As DevOps Engineer Specialist, you will develop, enhance and automate IaC, CI/CD, security, monitoring and alerting for a number of applications. When production support is required, you will focus on answering support calls and resolving production issues with infrastructure and software during the US night hours.
The key skills in a candidate include automation tools, cloud services, IaC practices and system administration techniques, ensuring efficient and reliable operation of modern IT environments. Additional good to have skills will include a knowledge of software development, building microservices, RESTful API and browser-based user interfaces. In short, we are looking for someone who is well-rounded in DevOps Practices and can cross over to Software Engineering in some capacity as the situation demands.
Besides working closely with your colleagues in Mumbai, you will also work closely with Nasdaq teams in other countries.
Role Responsibilities
- Develop infrastructure and software solutions in accordance with standards and practices.
- Work with architects to capture requirements and develop solutions for new projects.
- Streamlines and automates IT Operations & Processes.
- Work with engineering teams to invent development processes for new projects.
- Identify, prescribe solutions and implement remediation as required by InfoSec findings.
- Serve as a knowledge resource for advice and mentorship on technical issues, both internally to the DevOps team and externally to other engineering teams.
- Maintain infrastructure, repair bugs, and respond to downtime in accordance with the business continuity plan.
- Provide support for software engineering teams.
- Conduct all business in accordance with policies and procedures.

We expect you to have (Minimum Qualifications)
- At least 5-7 years of experience as a DevOps engineer, with contributions to software development.
- Experienced in core principles of DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Experience in AWS, or similar cloud technologies.
- Experience in building, testing, and maintaining the infrastructure with Terraform, or similar tools.
- Experience in Linux commands, shell scripting, and Linux Administration.
- Experience in working with Containerized environments with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience in building a CI/CD pipeline for automated building, testing, and deploying both the infrastructure and code.
- Passion for learning new technologies and staying updated with industry trends that help you improve your skills and knowledge.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills that enable you to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
- Good communication and collaboration skills that enable you to work well with developers, stakeholders, and users.

Education Qualification
Degree qualified in a discipline related to Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.

- Knowledge of Equities trading.
- Experience with real-time, high-throughput applications.
- Understanding of data lakes and data warehousing.
- Experience with any or all of the following technologies - Java, Spring, Spring boot, Kafka, Kotlin, relational database.
- Build tools: Maven and Git.
- Java Frameworks (Keycloak, OpenSearch).
- JSON, RESTful web-services, and Microservices.
- Web-security skills: SAML, encryption, certificates, web attack protection.
- JUnit, automated testing, and test-driven development experience.
