Overview
The Information Technology Specialist Security at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration serves as the Security Engineer responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Goddard's critical data and IT assets.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, configure, or analyze network and host-based security platforms and reports.
- Interpret statistical data and reconcile policy conflicts.
- Develop long-range IT security plans and controls.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and investigate security anomalies and alerts.
- Support Incident Response, Threat Management, and Vulnerability Management teams.
- Serve as Center Alternate Communications Security Manager and manage COMSEC inventory.
Requirements & Qualifications
Candidates must be U.S. citizens (or owe allegiance to the U.S.), may require a one-year probationary period, and must successfully pass pre-employment background investigation and financial disclosure. Applicants for GS-13 must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level with IT security process implementation, analysis, and related competencies in forensics, policy interpretation, and vulnerability scanning.
