About The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Sanctions Analyst to join our AFC Operations Department at N26. In this role, you will manage escalations from Sanctions Analysts and act as a primary point of contact for Compliance Sanctions and MLROs.

At N26, you will be responsible for enforcing international financial sanctions and global risk management frameworks, playing a critical role in investigations, regulatory escalations, and sanctions operations oversight to safeguard against financial crime risks.

In This Role, You Will

  • Serve as the main escalation point for L2 sanctions alerts and complex investigations.
  • Review, analyze, and validate high-risk escalations, ensuring compliance.
  • Escalate confirmed sanctions hits with structured documentation.
  • Conduct quality reviews of L1 tasks and drive process improvement.
  • Maintain clear documentation for regulatory, audit, and internal compliance reporting.

Process Optimisation & Operational Excellence

  • Refine and enhance sanctions screening workflows to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with related teams to fine-tune screening models and improve accuracy.
  • Drive improvements in escalation pathways between L1, L2, and Compliance.
  • Support drafting and modification of work instructions for the team.

Stakeholder Coordination & Compliance Support

  • Act as liaison between Sanctions Operations and Compliance teams.
  • Collaborate with Compliance Sanction, MLROs, AFC leadership, and Legal teams.
  • Provide operational insights for audit responses and regulatory inquiries.
  • Adapt to changes in international sanctions regulations.

Training & Knowledge Sharing

  • Support training sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives for team members.
  • Assist with onboarding and mentoring junior team members.
  • Contribute to internal learning initiatives to enhance expertise.

What You Need to Be Successful

Minimum 2+ years in sanctions operations, financial crime compliance, or AFC investigations. Expertise in L2-level investigations and escalations, familiarity with sanctions screening tools, and deep knowledge of global financial sanctions frameworks are essential. A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field is preferred.
