About the Senior Technical Writer Role

The Senior Technical Writer will support the Project Management Office on the Government of Canada’s S/4HANA transformation. You will build a consistent documentation framework and produce high-quality project and technical artifacts used to manage work with a Team of Qualified Suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver a document intake/process aligned to GoC and industry standards.
  • Author, edit, and format key documents (SOWs, DIDs, CDRLs, TCRs, TWPs, SORs) and templates.
  • Partner with client technical authorities to gather requirements and ensure consistency.
  • Provide QA on documentation structure, grammar, compliance, and task sequencing.
  • Maintain version control and update documentation per feedback and spec changes.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly status reports, agendas/minutes, and support change communications.
  • Coordinate smooth transition of documents through review/approval using Microsoft Office/SharePoint.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in business administration, communications, or related field.
  • 5+ years as a Technical Writer on complex programs (Gov’t/regulated preferred).
  • Experience producing SOW, DID, CDRL and similar artifacts to DND/GoC standards.
  • Strong stakeholder facilitation and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with familiarity in structured templates and style guides.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with TBS/DND standards and ERP/SAP program documentation in an S/4HANA context.
  • Experience establishing documentation governance including templates, KPI dashboards, and RAID logs.

Work Model & Deliverables

This is primarily a virtual role with escorted access to DND facilities if required. Key deliverables include the document intake process, a template suite, regular reports, and finalized documents following approved templates.
