  • Utilize rigorous data science and modern software engineering best practices to create efficient, reliable, and optimized bioinformatics pipelines.
  • Lead project teams through the development, validation, and future-proofing of new products and features.
  • Collaborate closely with talented molecular biologists, software engineers, automation engineers, and data scientists.
  • Characterize data derived from novel molecular assays and provide statistical guidance for molecular protocol development.
  • Mentor junior scientists and research associates, contributing to their growth and the overall success of key projects.
  • Author posters and peer-reviewed publications showcasing the scientific excellence of our products and their underlying algorithms.
  • Work with legal staff to secure intellectual property rights related to product inventions.
  • Effectively communicate project results and insights to stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computational Biology, Statistics, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Computer Science, Systems Biology, Biophysics, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience developing methods to analyze large, noisy real-world datasets, with a preference for experience in molecular biology and/or human genetics.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-departmental projects and mentoring junior scientists and research associates.
  • Proven ability to develop custom analysis methods, algorithms, and robust analysis pipelines.
  • Experience working with CLIA-validated assays, authoring CLIA validation plans, and expertise with Illumina Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and other sequencing platforms.
  • Strong computational skills, fluency in Python, proficiency with a workflow definition language, and knowledge of software engineering best practices.
  • Multiple peer-reviewed publications.
  • Preferred experience with modern medical genetics datasets.
