Uncover Hiring Manager

Job Description

About Booking.com

At Booking.com, data drives our decisions. Technology is at our core, and innovation is everywhere. Our company is more than datasets, lines of code, or A/B tests; we are about the thrill of new experiences, the excitement of discovery, and the memories made. Through our products, partners, and people, we make it easier for everyone to experience the world.

This job is with Booking.com, an inclusive employer and a member of myGwork – the largest global platform for the LGBTQ+ business community. Please do not contact the recruiter directly.

Role Description

Booking.com is executing a long-term strategy centered on The Connected Trip. Our goal is to enable a seamless travel experience where customers can purchase multiple products – such as accommodations, flights, rental cars, and attractions – within a single, unified transaction and checkout process.

The Order Platform Experience team is focused on making our order platform a self-service environment. We treat internal engineering teams – from Accommodations to Attractions – as our primary customers. We succeed when these teams can connect to our systems and manage their own product lifecycles without needing custom development from us. We act as the bridge between high-scale backend systems and the business goal of a unified traveler experience.

As a Senior Technology Product Manager, you will play a critical role in this long-term strategy by architecting an order platform that is not only powerful but exceptionally easy for other teams to use independently. You aren't just managing a specific feature; you are building a standardized, self-service environment that allows any product team to connect their services to our order platform with minimal friction.

Key Job Responsibilities And Duties

  • Own and lead the Order platform experience team's vision, mission, roadmap, and end-to-end execution while partnering closely with teams from across all product verticals – from Accommodations to Attractions.
  • Work with your engineering counterpart to prioritize the team backlog, aligning day-to-day execution with user and business needs.
  • Enable Independent Building: Drive the development of technical guides, testing environments, and automated tools that allow internal Software Engineers to integrate their products into the platform on their own.
  • System Observability & Reliability: Partner with senior engineers to ensure the platform handles massive global traffic. You will make decisions to ensure the system remains fast as we add more products to the traveler's checkout process.
  • Coordinate Multi-Product Logic: Solve the technical challenges of the Connected Trip. You define how the system handles complex scenarios, such as ensuring a flight change correctly triggers updates to other parts of a traveler's itinerary.
  • Internal Strategy & Roadmap: Act as the primary contact for other business units, translating their needs into scalable, general features that benefit the entire company rather than building one-off solutions.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 7+ years of proven experience in Technical Product Management, specifically within high-scale backend ecosystems or leading Developer experience teams.
  • Strong communication skills: you can explain complex technical constraints to business leaders and translate business goals into clear technical requirements for engineers.
  • Developer-Focused: You view other engineers as your customers and are passionate about making technical processes simple, well-documented, and efficient.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills: Experience influencing senior leadership and aligning roadmaps across different product areas.
  • Strategic thinking: you are comfortable working in an ambiguous environment and can align roadmaps across multiple business units.
  • Analytical mindset: The ability to use data to identify system bottlenecks and guide the platform's technical roadmap.
  • You have a deep understanding of how different software services interact in a global, high-scale environment. You prioritize long-term system health alongside immediate business needs.
  • Proven expertise in system design: You understand the trade-offs of distributed systems, including data consistency, latency, and reliability.
  • Experience with API design and event-driven architecture: You are comfortable working with RESTful services and messaging systems to keep data synchronized across a global company.
