About Amazon Operations
The operational business is the heart of Amazon. An effectively running operation helps ensure that items are processed and shipped to our customers on time. As an Operations Lead, you will experience how all the different parts of the operation function and contribute to a smooth process.
You will act as the primary contact person for team members during their shift and assist them in following the processes introduced by your managers. You will gain practical experience and use analytical systems that contribute to the success of our company.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Measuring and monitoring workflows, tracking site performance, and providing important shift information to shift/area managers in operations to ensure cross-shift operational excellence
- Supporting and training employees so they can perform greatly, and overseeing their daily tasks
- Assisting the shift/area manager with process improvement projects, fostering a safe working environment, and increasing employee engagement
- Collaborating with other departments to find solutions to common problems or to meet needs in key performance areas
- Utilizing data analysis to identify opportunities for optimizing safety, quality, and productivity
A Day in the Life
As an Operations Lead, you will work at one of our operational sites. You will support your shift/area manager in executing the shift plan. You will help prepare shift meetings with your team and monitor procedures and processes. This ensures that safety rules, quality assurance processes, and daily priorities are followed.
Problems you notice will be escalated to your manager. Occasionally, you will also act as a shift manager yourself, offering your employees the necessary guidance to complete their tasks. If necessary, you will support your shift/area manager with shift planning, ensuring that enough team members are scheduled during peak times.

Fulfilling our customer orders (Customer Fulfillment or CF) is how Amazon started. The Customer Fulfillment Team has now evolved from a modest team of booksellers into a highly experienced global team that processes over 1.5 million orders daily. The team forms the foundation of our business and has helped us expand into new regions and services. With the help of emerging technology, we are continuously looking for ways to offer a larger and better product selection – delivered quickly and affordably.
CF team members are the very first to ensure that our customers receive their orders at the speed we are known for. We work in Fulfillment Centers, which are at the heart of Amazon's dynamic operational network. Our Fulfillment Centers are sometimes also referred to as the “First Mile” – this is where most Amazon packages begin their shipping journey. We support the management of dynamic inventory and enable fast, round-the-clock deliveries.
Our Fulfillment Centers employ diverse groups of employees. There are numerous opportunities for people with a wide variety of skills. Some of us work with physical products. Others analyze data and help make intelligent company-wide decisions.
Basic Qualifications
- Advanced German language skills, both written and spoken.
- Experience working with data analytics and applying it to problem detection.
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in stakeholder management, including building and maintaining professional relationships.
- Experience working in an operational environment, such as logistics, retail, hospitality, or customer service.
- Advanced English language skills.
