Field Service Engineer - Electron Microscopy

Division Specific Information

The Materials and Structural Analysis (MSD) Electron Microscopy (EM) business designs, manufactures, and supports advanced microscopy workflow solutions. We help customers accelerate breakthrough discoveries by providing insights at micro-, nano-, and picometer scales.

How You Will Make an Impact

As a Field Service Engineer, you will provide critical technical support and assistance to ensure the efficient performance of our state-of-the-art equipment. You will work directly with customers to address their needs, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and product efficacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and independently complete complex service tasks.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
  • Generate accurate and detailed service reports.
  • Provide expert technical recommendations and solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to understand and meet their specific needs.
  • Offer technical training and support to junior Field Service Engineers.
  • Participate in scheduling work with colleagues and management.
  • Identify and report potential sales leads and provide feedback to support teams.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechatronics, electronics/engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a related field.
  • University degree with hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex analytical instruments, preferably Electron Microscopes or similar technology.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • A keen interest in technology and IT trends.
  • Knowledge of electron microscopes is advantageous.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
