Human Resources Generalist
Murfreesboro City Schools is seeking a detail-oriented and personable Human Resources Generalist to join our Department of Human Resources.

Essential Job Functions
The Human Resources Generalist will possess broad knowledge across various HR functions. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting current and prospective employees.
- Onboarding new district employees (certified and classified), including paperwork, experience verifications, and background checks.
- Conducting background checks for new hires and maintaining five-year clearances for current employees.
- Calculating salary/pay for new employees.
- Ensuring all certified staff are properly licensed and assisting with licensing issues.
- Running TNCompass state reports.
- Entering employee database changes in Skyward.
- Collaborating with the Payroll Department for accurate employee payments.
- Communicating employee changes to other departments.
- Tracking and managing yearly required online training for all employees.
- Maintaining personnel files (retention, creation, accessibility).
- Serving as the primary coordinator for the Frontline substitute teacher system.
- Responding to state unemployment requests and conducting appeals.
- Tracking tenure eligibility.
- Creating and maintaining position control charts.
- Cross-training in other HR duties (time off, sick bank, worker's compensation).
- Providing excellent customer service.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Staff Relationship
Reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.
Terms of Employment
This is a twelve (12) month position with salary and benefits set annually. Expect 35-40 hours per week. This is a Non-Exempt role.
