About the role
About the Role
This role is part of the Corporate Functions Tower for Group Technology (IT 1.12) at Munich Re. This team supports key corporate and central units like Finance, HR, Legal & Compliance, Facilities/Services, and Procurement. It also manages cross-functional platforms including document management, collaboration solutions, corporate websites, and Group-wide Identity & Access Management (IAM). Specifically, ITM 1.12.3 develops and operates applications supporting the Central Reserving Department and the Global Reserving Platform, with a strong focus on digital transformation through automation and advanced technologies, including AI.
Your Job
- Support key compliance and governance activities, including preparing documentation, collecting evidence, and using AI-enabled tools to automate and streamline compliance tasks.
- Independently identify, research, evaluate, and document AI use cases that enhance operational efficiency, automate manual work, or support informed decision-making — including use cases relevant for project and product management.
- Analyze data from Azure DevOps using M365 Copilot and other tools to identify patterns, generate insights, and support continuous improvement across teams.
- Prepare clear documentation such as AI use-case descriptions, workflow diagrams, analytical summaries, and compliance-related reports.
- Support team coordination by organizing meetings, managing schedules, and capturing key decisions and action items when needed.
- Create concise PowerPoint presentations to effectively communicate insights, findings, and recommendations to product owners and management.
- Collaborate with product managers to refine and prioritize backlogs, leveraging AI-assisted analysis and automation opportunities.
- Contribute to a culture of digital transformation through exploration of new AI capabilities and tools, translating learnings into practical proposals for the team.
- Perform other duties as required to support overall team objectives.
Your Profile
- Pre-master’s student in a STEM field (e.g., computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or similar) with strong analytical and technical skills.
- High-level English proficiency; German or Polish language skills are a plus.
- Practical hands-on experience with AI, gained through applied coursework, research projects, internships, hackathons, or industry work.
- Eagerness to apply AI tooling (e.g., M365 Copilot, LLM-based assistants, prompt engineering) to real business and IT problems, translating ideas into clear, structured use cases or prototypes.
- Comfortable working with data and experience with tools such as MS Excel and Power BI; exposure to Python, SQL, APIs, or basic automation/scripting is a strong plus.
- Clear communication skills, enjoyment of collaborative problem-solving, and ability to explain technical concepts accessibly.
- Familiarity with the insurance or finance industry, or in regulated environments is preferred but not required.
- Availability for a full-time, 6-month internship, required to be present in the office in Munich for the duration.
- Students from outside the EU require a German residence-/work permit.
- The first master's degree may not have been completed before/during the entire internship.
