Job Description

AI Learning Architect at Multiverse

Multiverse is the upskilling platform for AI and Tech adoption, partnering with over 1,500 companies to deliver transformative learning. Our apprenticeships build critical AI, data, and tech skills, driving significant ROI for employers. As the UK's first EdTech unicorn with a $1.7bn valuation and 800+ employees, we are rapidly scaling our mission to equip the workforce for the AI era.

Overview

In this pivotal role as an AI Learning Architect, you will be the chief architect of the pedagogical soul of our AI-powered learning content generation system. You will bridge the gap between cutting-edge learning science and artificial intelligence, designing the rules, frameworks, and logic that will enable our AI to create world-class, effective learning experiences at scale. Your work will ensure our educational content and learning experiences are not only engaging but are built upon a foundation of proven pedagogical principles, constructivist theory, and our unique problem-first, hands-on approach.

What You'll Do

  • Architect AI Learning Frameworks: Design, develop, and document a comprehensive set of rules and principles for our AI to follow when generating learning content. This framework will be the blueprint for our entire learning methodology.
  • Embed Pedagogical Excellence: Translate established learning pedagogy, andragogy, and cognitive best practices into a clear, logical, and machine-readable rule set. You will be the expert voice ensuring our AI teaches effectively.
  • Champion Hands-On Learning: Codify our problem-first, hands-on instructional sequencing into the AI's core logic, ensuring all generated content aligns with our active learning philosophy.
  • Navigate Regulatory Landscapes: Integrate the complex regulatory requirements of the UK apprenticeship levy (and others as we expand) into the learning design rules, ensuring all content is compliant and of the highest standard.
  • Collaborate with AI Teams: Partner closely with AI developers and engineers to ensure your pedagogical frameworks are accurately interpreted and implemented within the AI models.
  • Empower Content Experts: Work in a close, collaborative partnership with programme and instructional designers and subject matter experts. You will enable them to leverage the frameworks you build and establish a continuous feedback loop to refine and improve the pedagogical rule set.
  • Iterate and Innovate: Continuously evaluate the quality of AI-generated content, refining and iterating upon the learning rules to drive constant improvement and innovation.
  • Stay at the Forefront: Remain current on emerging trends and research at the intersection of learning science, adult education, and artificial intelligence, bringing new ideas and best practices to the team.

What You'll Bring

  • Substantial and demonstrable experience in pedagogical design, learning architecture, or senior instructional design roles, with a strong focus on adult learners and work-based learning.
  • A deep understanding and practical application of learning theories, particularly constructivism, and experience designing learning frameworks that prioritise problem-based or hands-on activities over traditional academic approaches.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing scalable learning frameworks or systems that have been successfully used by other instructional designers or content creators.
  • Familiarity with the UK apprenticeship levy and its regulatory requirements is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of how Large Language Models (e.g. Gemini, ChatGPT etc.) work and their usage in content creation workflows.
  • While direct experience writing rules for AI is a plus, we are equally interested in candidates who have created highly structured, rule-based learning frameworks for human designers.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and systems-thinking skills, with the ability to deconstruct complex pedagogical concepts into precise, logical rules.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to act as the bridge between academic theory and technical implementation.
  • A passion for the future of education and a belief in the power of technology to revolutionise how people learn and develop new skills.

Benefits

  • Time off: 27 days holiday, plus 5 additional days off (1 life event day, 2 volunteer days, 2 company-wide wellbeing days) and 8 bank holidays per year.
  • Health & Wellness: Private medical insurance with Bupa, medical cashback, life insurance, gym membership & wellness resources through Wellhub, and access to Spill mental health support.
  • Hybrid work offering: Collaborate in the office three days per week for most roles.
  • Work-from-anywhere scheme: Opportunity to work from anywhere, up to 10 days per year.
  • Space to connect: Weekly catch-ups, seasonal celebrations, and a stocked kitchen.
