Role Overview
Title: Casual Retail Sales Assistant Reports To: Store Manager Division: Flexible Award Level: Level 1
Role And Responsibilities
The ultimate task of a Casual Retail Sales Assistant is to assist the Store Management Team in ensuring that the store embodies all aspects relating to the MUJI culture and beliefs system. A Casual Retail Sales Assistant assists in driving the passion and motivation within the store to achieve and exceed the sales targets. Upon request, Casual Retail Sales Assistants take directions from the Store Management Team on the tasks and responsibilities that are necessary to run the store successfully.
Customer Service
- Responsible for ensuring MUJIís customer service standards and expectations are met.
- Help drive MUJIís customer service standards and expectations within the store. This includes, but is not limited to: Selling skills, Speaking to and approaching customers, Uniform standards.
- Provide regular feedback to the Store Management Team on customer insights, feelings (positive and negative), and opportunities surrounding MUJIís business (products, promotions, events, etc.).
- Listen to customers and resolve problems to promote good public relations.
Stock Room Control
- Help organise and tidy the stock room areas to ensure products are easily accessible and efficient.
Routine Responsibilities
- Assist in achieving sales targets on both a daily, weekly, and monthly level.
- Assist in carrying out the sales action plans at your assigned areas.
- As requested by the Store Management Team, you are to: Provide product knowledge and services to our customers, Greet and farewell customers, Assist in the receiving of stock, its counting, pricing and tagging, Monitor and check expiry dates on products, Maintain housekeeping requirements, Replenish designated areas, Use and operate registers.
Work Safe Standards
- Follow safe work practices and provide feedback to the Store Management Team.
- Ensure dangerous situations are handled safely and assist where required.
Cash Handling
- Follow MUJIís cash handling procedures correctly.
- Report any pricing errors or problems with the register or cash handling immediately.
- Process all transaction types correctly.
Other Duties
- Regularly talk to colleagues and customers, and identify opportunities for the store.
- Inform the Store Management Team of any urgent matters.
- Tactfully handle fragile items to prevent breakage and write-offs.
- Undertake recycling practices and reducing waste.
- Ad-hoc assignments as requested by the Store Management Team.
- Report discrepancies in stock holding.
- Ensure all available stock is displayed.
- Ensure stock is sold on a first-in, first-out (FIFO) basis.
Skills and Experiences:
- Customer service experience.
- Experience in a similar retail environment and/or fast-paced retail store environment is highly advantageous.
- Visual merchandising experience is highly advantageous.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage high volumes of stock.
- Flexibility to work across the week including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Ability to create a friendly and rewarding experience for our customers.
- Exceptional customer service and a positive can-do attitude.
- Passionate and motivated to achieve the store sales targets.
