The Opportunity
As a Staff Engineer Front End Desktop, you will serve as a domain expert in creating seamless, user-focused interfaces and delivering high-quality front-end solutions. You will join a team of experienced engineers working on Thunderbird, a product cherished for over 20 years by millions of users globally.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex technical initiatives across teams.
- Own and deliver projects including new features and code quality improvements.
- Partner with senior engineers and product managers to define technical strategy.
- Collaborate with UX Engineers to integrate accessibility standards.
- Establish scalable front-end architecture and mentor team members.
Requirements
- 10+ years of front-end development experience.
- Expertise in modern vanilla JavaScript and ECMAScript standards.
- Deep experience with frameworks such as React, Vue, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS, and accessibility practices (WCAG, ARIA).
- Proven technical leadership and mentoring skills.
- Experience with cross-platform development and version control systems (Git, Mercurial).
Bonus Points
- Contributions to open-source projects.
- Experience with Python or other programming languages.
- Proficiency in additional languages such as French, German, or Japanese.
