Role Overview
As a Desktop Engineer at Mouser Electronics, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the end-user experience by defining technical processes, creating comprehensive documentation, and acting as a key technical escalation point for Desktop Technicians. You will provide subject matter expert (SME) guidance, oversee project assignments, and conduct regular trainings to ensure the team remains updated on technical advancements and environmental changes. This position requires proactive judgment and strong communication to keep management and business liaisons informed.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside Leads and Managers to help define technical processes.
- Create technical documentation to provide consistent guidelines.
- Work to improve the overall end user experience regarding their technical needs, including hardware and software.
- Act as a technical escalation point to Desktop Technician roles.
- Technically oversee the technicians assigned to projects to ensure SLAs and deadlines are met.
- Provide subject matter expert (SME) guidance to the team as needed, in addition to regular trainings to ensure the team is kept up to date on relevant technical advancements or changes in the environment.
- Proactively use good business judgment and communications to keep IS Management and business liaisons informed regarding status, risks, obstacles, and other related information.
Required Skills & Expertise
- Expert in supporting Microsoft Windows operating system.
- Expert in ticketing tools (ITSM), Citrix, MS Office, Active Directory, and VPN.
- Expert in the support of printers, scanners, and copiers.
- Expert in the support of networking systems.
- Expert in hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in troubleshooting complex issues.
- Proficient in project management.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
- Proficient in the use of MDMs to monitor and administer mobile devices.
- Proficient in building and maintaining Windows Images (OSD).
- Experience supporting MacOS.
- Experience in PowerShell.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
