Overview
The Staff Nurse NICU position at Mount Sinai Health System involves providing safe, competent, and quality care based on nursing theory, research, and evidence‐based practice. The role requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary healthcare team, critical assessment of patient needs, and the delivery of comprehensive care.
Responsibilities
Patient Care: Deliver patient care integrating professional practice models, perform assessments, apply critical thinking, and educate patients and caregivers. Responsibilities include teaching, rounding, and planning post-hospital care.
Patient Experience: Role model relationship centered care through bedside practices including shift reports, hourly rounding, medication review, and discharge wrap ups. Engage with patients and family using empathy and active listening.
Quality and Safety: Ensure safe and efficient patient-centered care by applying clinical skills and quality improvement strategies. Document accurately and escalate safety concerns utilizing institutional procedures and technology.
Operations: Perform charge nurse duties, coordinate supplies and staffing, manage documentation, and facilitate patient throughput.
Professional Development: Contribute to a learning environment, serve as a preceptor, and advance clinical competence through continuous education and involvement in quality improvement projects.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Nursing program (BSN or ADN with BSN in progress).
- Current Nursing registration in New York State.
- Certification in BLS, NRP; minimum of 1 year inpatient experience required.
