Staff Nurse ICU Float Pool - Mount Sinai Hospital

The Clinical Nurse for the Mount Sinai nursing float pool is a Registered Professional Nurse providing safe, competent quality care to a diverse patient group across multiple units. This role involves applying nursing theory, evidence-based practices, and critical thinking to manage patient care effectively.

Responsibilities

Patient Care: Deliver care through the nursing process, assess and evaluate patient needs, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and educate patients and caregivers.

Patient Experience: Implement Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care through techniques such as Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, Purposeful Hourly Rounding, and service recovery as needed.

Quality and Safety: Follow safe practices, document accurately, perform process improvement strategies, and escalate potential hazards using institutional protocols.

Operations: Execute charge nurse duties, manage resource allocation, coordinate with leadership, and ensure a smooth patient throughput each shift.

Professional Development: Support a culture of continuous learning, role model professional nursing, mentor new staff, and participate in councils and committees.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited Nursing program (BSN or ADN with BSN matriculation) is required. Current registration in New York State as a Registered Nurse is mandatory along with certifications: BCLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS. Demonstrated clinical competence in the assigned practice area is essential.
