Overview

The Per Diem Staff Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse providing safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practices. This role focuses on patient care, patient experience, quality and safety, operations, and professional development.

Responsibilities

Patient Care: Deliver patient care using a Relationship Centered Care model. Assess patient needs using critical thinking and apply the nursing process. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, educate patients and caregivers, and delegate appropriately.

• Incorporate Relationship Centered Care principles.
• Perform patient assessments and evaluations.
• Collaborate on care plan development.
• Educate patients and caregivers.

Patient Experience: Model Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care through bedside shifting, purposeful rounding, and effective communication. Establish therapeutic relationships, perform service recovery, and ensure patient satisfaction.

Quality and Safety: Practice patient-centered care ensuring safety and quality. Implement process improvements, report hazards, and use documentation to support performance initiatives.

Operations: Carry out charge nurse duties, coordinate supply inventory, and document care in compliance with regulations.

Professional Development: Engage in continuous learning, act as a role model and preceptor, and participate in decision-making and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Applicants must have graduated from an accredited Nursing program (BSN preferred or ADN with pathway). Current registration in New York State, BLS certification, and NRP certification are required. A minimum of 2 years of Mother/Baby experience is essential. Experience levels vary, and clinical competence is required.

Compensation

The salary range is $82.6333 hourly, subject to experience, education, and operational need.
