About the Library
The University Library, located in the Riddell Library and Learning Centre at Mount Royal University, supports innovative teaching, learning, and scholarship across campus. With specialized collections, technology-enriched spaces, and a team of approximately 60 employees, the Library values inclusivity, innovation, and teamwork.
About the Role
The Public Services Assistant Collections provides one-to-one instruction and assistance to library users including students, staff, faculty, and community members. The role focuses on helping users with research-related tasks, using current library technologies, and ensuring access to specialized collections.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one instruction in both virtual and physical environments.
- Assist users with library learning technologies, equipment, and specialized spaces such as Maker Studio.
- Process materials including course reserves and interlibrary loans.
- Prepare and maintain physical collections, including specialized material types.
- Support routine inventory, weeding, and shifting projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; Library education or diploma is an asset.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working with/instructing undergraduate students in academic libraries is a strong asset.
- Public services and interlibrary loan experience is an asset.
