The US Federal Governments Markets Division (USFGMD) is chartered with being the premier, compliant supplier of world-class communications solutions to the U.S. Federal Government by providing the highest quality products, systems and services. The Federal Cybersecurity team provides security compliance support and services to US Federal Government customers globally. The Federal Cyber Security Intern will work alongside Information Protection Specialists. This role involves assisting with customers, development organizations, and third-party vendors to meet complex and constantly changing security requirements, ensuring the availability of Motorola products and systems when it matters most.
Job Description for Federal Cyber Security Intern
As a Federal Cyber Security Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a critical domain, contributing to the security of Motorola Solutions' products and systems for federal government customers. Your responsibilities will include:
- Design, develop, and test software, applications, and supporting tools.
- Contribute to product development by supporting feature enhancement efforts.
- Maintain and support lab systems, ensuring proper configuration and availability of components for testing and development activities.
- Provide field support, including assisting with implementation planning, deployment, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
- Develop policies and training materials for support personnel as needed.
- Offer Tier 2 technical support for Federal Service products and services.
- Perform comprehensive testing and vetting of patches, firmware, and software updates/upgrades across various platforms, including operating systems, applications, databases, web servers, and networking/transport devices.
- Conduct research, exploration, and piloting of new technologies and frameworks, implementing proofs of concept to enhance the existing toolset.
Location and Work Arrangement
This internship is an on-site position, requiring 5 days a week presence at our Schaumburg, IL office, located at 2000 Progress Pkwy, Schaumburg, IL 60196.
Basic Requirements
- Must currently be pursuing a Bachelor's degree with an anticipated graduation date during or after December 2026.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
Target Base Salary Range
The target base salary range for this position is $40,000 - $55,000 USD, with the actual offer based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
