Job Description

About Motion (Creative Analytics)

Motion is building the command center for creative strategists, an AI-driven analytics and intelligence platform that helps performance marketers and creative teams understand what's performing and what's not. Trusted by top e-commerce and direct-to-consumer brands and agencies like Vuori and The Farmer's Dog, Motion has analyzed over $14 billion in media spend. The company is growing fast (2.5x year-over-year, 70+ team members) and recently secured a $30M Series B raise, signaling strong momentum in building the future of creative intelligence.

The company culture is built on trust, with 10% of the team having followed the founders from their previous successful venture, indicating high loyalty and a shared belief in the mission.

About The AI Product Engineer Role

As an AI Product Engineer at Motion, you will join the engineering team in building market-leading software that leverages AI agents and intelligence to accelerate and improve decision-making for creative strategists in paid advertising. This role is ideal for impatient, self-sufficient, pragmatic, and fun engineers who are passionate about building user-facing products and owning features from ideation to launch.

Our tech stack includes React, Node.js with Express, TypeScript, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Azure. You are encouraged to explore Motion's Engineering page to learn more about the team's work and building philosophy.

What You'd Be Doing

  • Go through 2 days of industry and Motion-specific onboarding, pair with a senior developer to set up the codebase, and push a feature in your first week.
  • Own a major initiative within your first 3 months.
  • Work on a small, high-ownership, cross-functional team with weekly cycles.
  • Build user-facing products, ranging from cutting-edge AI support and onboarding tools to creative discovery features.

Our ideal fit brings

  • 5+ years of experience transforming designs and product requirements into beloved and utilized products.
  • 0 to 1 experience (building new things from scratch).
  • Proficiency with React, TypeScript, and Node.js (or closely related technologies).
  • Excitement about integrating AI into your workflow and staying current with its rapid advancements in software development.
  • A background from self-taught, bootcamp, degree, or founder paths – Motion values talent from diverse origins.

And you'll be a strong fit if you align with these qualities:

  • A strong sense of ownership: making decisions, standing by them, and quickly rectifying issues.
  • A pragmatic mindset: prioritizing impact over perfection, shipping customer value efficiently, and continuously improving.
  • Comfort thriving in a fast-moving startup environment where requirements can be ambiguous, shift quickly, and clarity is often created by you.
  • Enjoyment in being a strong individual contributor and a supportive team player, recognizing engineering as a collaborative effort.

What You'll Love About Motion

  • Competitive compensation package: Including equity for all employees, health benefits from day one, a monthly health & lifestyle stipend, 20 days of PTO, and a $1,500 work-from-home stipend.
  • Remote-first with hybrid flexibility: A fully remote company with team members across Canada, the U.S., and beyond. Optional office spaces are available in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Porto for hybrid work.
  • Growth that speaks for itself: Strong product-market fit, 2.5x YoY growth, experienced second-time founders, and $30M in Series B funding.
  • Opportunity for impact: Early team members directly shape the product, team, and company future.
  • Award-winning team: A low-ego, high-performing team, ranked #19 on G2's Best Canadian Software Companies for 2026.
  • Team connection: Utilizes Roam (AI-powered virtual office) for daily collaboration and hosts in-person team gatherings every two months, plus a company retreat annually.

Motion is looking for someone in or around one of its hub cities (Toronto, Montreal, or Porto, Portugal) who can work with significant overlap to ET working hours.
