About the Assistant Project Manager, Energy Storage Role at Mortenson
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to join our Energy Storage Group. In this traveling role, you will partner with the project manager from bid preparation through final client acceptance, leading, coaching, and mentoring project team members. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to remain flexible, inventive, dedicated, and efficient with a high level of integrity and confidentiality in an ever-changing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will require organization, flexibility, excellent customer focus, and strong communication, and may include:
- Perform cost control and financial management.
- Collaborate with Preconstruction on project estimates and schedules.
- Coordinate scopes of work and review/compile financial documentation like pay applications and change requests.
- Partner with the Project Manager or Construction Executive to draft client proposals and manage contract administration.
- Award and manage subcontracts.
- Provide direction to the project team, acting as a liaison, mentor, and coach for Project Engineers and Field Engineers.
- Lead subcontractors and suppliers, supervising budgets, making recommendations, and facilitating project coordination meetings.
- Perform on-site Project Manager duties for smaller scope projects.
- Implement quality plans to ensure specified performance criteria in design and construction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum six years of related previous experience.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with all responsibilities for complex projects.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and lead multiple project tasks.
- Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office, project and pertinent web application skills.
- Demonstrated positive and professional attitude and strong customer service skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
- Current driver’s license.

Compensation
The base compensation range for this traveling Assistant Project Manager, Energy Storage role is $102,000 - $137,700. Actual ranges may be higher for specific office locations (e.g., Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, Washington D.C.). Base pay is determined by individual knowledge, skill, and experience, considering internal equity.
