The Middle Office within our WM Technology Division creates innovative technology solutions for Core Brokerage. This platform supports digital customer journeys including account opening, funding, trade and order management, portfolio oversight, and risk management.
Position Description
The Software Engineer - Blockchain & Tokenization role at Morgan Stanley is designed for experienced engineers. You will lead blockchain engineering projects, design scalable and secure digital asset solutions, and drive regulatory-compliant tokenization platforms. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-grade products for global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of blockchain and smart contract developers.
- Define the engineering roadmap for blockchain infrastructure and tokenization platforms.
- Design and implement secure, scalable blockchain-based solutions.
- Collaborate with product, compliance, and operations teams on technical requirements.
- Integrate various blockchain protocols (Ethereum, Polygon, Hyperledger, etc.).
- Manage release lifecycle, CI/CD pipelines, and production reliability.
- Enforce best practices in code quality, testing, and security.
- Stay updated on industry trends and evolving regulatory frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in blockchain and tokenization.
- 5+ years in an engineering role managing distributed teams.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and DevOps tools.
- Strong knowledge of blockchain architecture, consensus algorithms, smart contracts, and cryptographic primitives.
- Experience with Solidity, Rust, Go, or similar languages.
- Understanding of token standards and settlement workflows.
- Proven track record delivering enterprise-grade software systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in regulated financial services or fintech.
- Knowledge of DvP and tokenized securities workflows.
- Experience with Web3 technologies.

Compensation
Associate Level: $90,000 - $150,000 per year; Director Level: $120,000 - $165,000 per year. Final base pay is determined on an individualized basis along with additional incentive programs.
