Role Overview

As the Head of APAC Technology & Data Legal at Morgan Stanley, you will lead a dynamic team of 3-4 in-house lawyers based in Hong Kong, Japan, and China. You will provide strategic legal counsel on technology, data, privacy, intellectual property, cybersecurity, and commercial contracts across APAC.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Advise on regulatory and legal risks in technology and data matters.
  • Review, draft, negotiate and close various technology agreements.
  • Collaborate with risk, compliance, and business partners on legal changes.
  • Handle cyber incidents, data breaches, and intellectual property matters.
  • Develop contract templates, firm policies, and remedial programs.

Skills and Qualities

Qualified lawyer with minimum 10 years post-qualification experience, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Proficiency in English is required; Cantonese/Mandarin and written Chinese are advantageous. The role demands strong legal and business judgment, leadership, and independent decision-making capabilities.
