The Opportunity: Equity Research Analyst/Associate, Networking Equipment

Morgan Stanley is currently seeking an Equity Research Analyst/Associate, Networking Equipment to join their dedicated Networking Equipment team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain earnings, valuation, and industry models, applying strong accounting, finance, and economics skills.
  • Assist in drafting comprehensive research reports for new coverage initiations, data analysis, earnings results, and industry news.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams within Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) to contribute to larger industry reports.
  • Cultivate an interest in leveraging all available resources and building external relationships to generate differentiated content for company-specific or industry research reports.
  • Interact effectively with institutional investors, promptly responding to requests for models, reports, and data analysis.
  • Stay informed on industry-related news flow and analyze its implications for companies under coverage.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with investor relations personnel and management teams of covered companies.
  • Conduct thorough industry diligence and primary research through surveys, expert conference calls, and various channel checks to assess industry trends.
  • Support internal sales and trading teams with timely analysis of breaking news within the sector.

Candidate Profile

  • A strong interest in Equity Research, ideally with a focus on the Networking Equipment & Communication Software sector.
  • 1 to 5 years of relevant experience in Research, Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Accounting, or Financial Services.
  • Desire and ability to build strong relationships with investors, company management, and industry contacts.
  • Outstanding financial acumen, including proven experience using Excel to build and maintain sophisticated financial models.
  • Demonstrated professional writing experience, such as crafting equity research notes, correspondence, presentations, and industry reports.
  • Expected to be adaptable, capable of performing under pressure, and adept at multitasking and reprioritizing tasks as necessary.
  • Meticulous attention to detail is essential.
  • Possess high energy, self-motivation, creativity, curiosity, strong organizational skills, and a keen focus on teamwork.

Compensation

The expected base pay for an Analyst will range between $110,000 and $125,000 per year, and for an Associate, between $150,000 and $200,000 per year, at the commencement of employment. Actual base pay will be individualized and is part of a total compensation package that may include commission, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short- and long-term incentives, and Morgan Stanley-sponsored benefit programs.
