Business Overview
The Global Investment Manager Analysis (GIMA) unit within WM Investment Solutions provides comprehensive manager research on investment strategies including separately managed accounts, mutual funds, UCITs, ETFs and private vehicles across equity, fixed income and alternative investments spaces.
Role Overview
The Alternative Investments Due Diligence Director will conduct investment due diligence on alternative investment funds and managers, and provide ongoing investment monitoring for existing relationships. The role involves detailed analysis, written research, regular meetings and collaboration with multiple internal teams.
Core Functions
- Perform due diligence on private equity, private credit, real assets and hedge funds.
- Participate in investment manager meetings and take comprehensive notes.
- Prepare detailed research reports, commentary and thought leadership pieces.
- Conduct quarterly liquid risk analysis and prepare periodic reviews.
- Compile peer analyses comparing various alternative strategies and managers.
- Analyze managers on investment processes, track records, portfolio construction, and risk management.
Ongoing Activities
- Adhere to policies for due diligence and maintain transparent documentation.
- Collaborate with onshore GIMA analysts and internal teams such as Legal, Compliance, and Sales.
- Keep updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and global investment views.
Skills Required
- 6-8 years of experience in the financial services industry; alternative investments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of alternative investment strategies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with report drafting experience.
- Proficient analytical and quantitative abilities with high attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Undergraduate degree required; CFA, CPA, and/or CAIA viewed favorably.
