This role is based in London, offering a salary of £64,000 - £70,000 + Stock Options + Benefits.
Our Public Policy Team
Monzo is growing fast, from being a UK bank to operating a tech and financial services group with a truly international footprint. To support this growth, our Public Policy squad shapes an ambitious policy agenda, driving government relations engagement. As a member of this team, your primary focus will be supporting our work in the UK, while also contributing to our emerging international policy initiatives. You'll work closely with teams across the company, supporting in the delivery of strategies on a diverse range of issues, including our four key policy categories: corporate and prudential, product, financial inclusion and vulnerability, and AI and tech.
Key Responsibilities for a Public Policy Manager
- Help the team identify, monitor, and analyse key policy issues affecting Monzo, working with internal stakeholders to define policy objectives that align with our mission.
- Prepare comprehensive policy analysis, research, and briefings for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the drafting of formal responses to relevant consultations and other requests.
- Assist in developing crucial relationships with policymakers, industry groups, consumer groups, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
- Help build our expertise and views on a range of policy and social impact issues, advocating for change that helps achieve our mission.
- Partner with organisations who share our aims by pooling expertise, resources, and voice.
- Where appropriate, lead policy development in areas such as financial inclusion and regulation.
What You'll Be Involved In
- Staying up to date with the latest political and regulatory developments.
- Delving into complex tech and financial services policy problems to highlight key issues for Monzo and our customers.
- Advocating for regulatory or legislative changes that make money work for everyone to a variety of audiences.
- Using user research, internal, and external data to create evidence-based policy recommendations.
- Helping to manage stakeholder relationships across Government, regulators, trade bodies, and the third sector.
- Enthusiastically engaging with team, Collective, or discipline-level initiatives to help bring about positive change.
- Identifying opportunities to broaden internal and industry stakeholder networks.
What We're Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you’re passionate about Monzo, our mission, and you want to drive positive impact and change for our customers. You should have around 3 to 5 years of experience working in policy, whether as part of a policy team, a public affairs team, a regulator, a think tank, or a similar organisation. Experience in financial services or tech policy is a bonus, but not essential. You should be a self-starter, comfortable with a fast pace of execution, and love taking the initiative to drive things forward.
