Overview

This position is for the upcoming acute inpatient psychiatric facility dedicated to high-quality, short-term psychiatric care for children and adolescents. The Registered Nurse will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering developmentally appropriate mental health services in a safe and structured environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within the Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit.
  • Deliver safe, therapeutic, and developmentally appropriate interventions using behavioral health expertise and trauma-informed care.
  • Participate in performance improvement and research initiatives while adhering to professional practice standards.
  • Exhibit strong leadership and maintain core competencies tailored to psychiatric and behavioral health nursing.

Requirements

  • Current New York State License and Registration as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • 1-2 years of inpatient pediatric and/or psychiatric nursing experience, preferably in child/adolescent behavioral health.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) training.
  • Willingness to complete training in behavioral health nursing within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience working with children and adolescents in psychiatric or acute care settings.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMHN-BC).
  • Experience in acute psychiatric settings with emphasis on trauma-informed care and crisis prevention.

Associate Referral Program

NYSNA members referring candidates receive $3,500, while other associates receive $2,500 upon successful probation. This applies to Full Time & Part Time positions only.
