Job Description

Product Management Intern at MongoDB

We are seeking motivated and talented students to contribute to building the next-generation database platform. As a Product Management Intern on the query team, you will be responsible for engaging with customers, understanding their challenges and requirements, and synthesizing these insights to guide our product decisions. You will be fully integrated into the team, helping to understand and analyze users’ needs and pain points, and advocating on their behalf. This role involves mining various data sources and collaborating with engineers and designers to translate technical constraints into new product requirements and enhanced user experiences. You will also refine and effectively communicate the product strategy to relevant stakeholders.

The Query Team at MongoDB

The Query team is at the heart of MongoDB, building the core engine that powers billions of single-digit millisecond queries for the most demanding workloads. We focus on analyzing and implementing advanced algorithms necessary to efficiently answer a wide range of queries, including those for joining, sorting, indexing, and scanning data. Drawing inspiration from academic domains like databases, algorithms, and systems, combined with our team's creativity, we develop novel solutions to construct a query engine that supports real-world workloads, from burgeoning startups to Fortune 500 companies.

Beyond developing the core engine, we also maintain the MongoDB Query Language and create essential tools that enable customers to understand and debug slow queries.

What we are looking for in you

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Sciences, or a related field.
  • Technical skills: While not expected to write production code, you should be comfortable delving into design and code, learning from existing examples, exploring APIs, triaging bugs, analyzing support cases, and articulating any technical aspects of the tools in your portfolio.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Curious, with a strong desire to learn and adapt; you are a self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments.
  • Must have a minimum of one quarter/semester remaining in university studies after the internship concludes, with a graduation date in Spring 2027 or Summer 2027.
  • Must be authorized to work in Ireland and provide the Company with copies of all relevant documents, if requested.

What you'll find at MongoDB

  • Authentic Culture: A workplace that encourages you to bring your whole self to work, valuing diversity as a catalyst for innovation and broadened perspectives.
  • Personalized Mentorship: You will be paired with a Product Management Mentor, a Program Advisor from the Early Talent Recruitment Team, and an Employee Resource Group (ERG) Guide to support your growth.
  • Career Coaching Sessions: Access to a tailored training program specifically designed for interns’ personal and professional development.
  • Work-Life Harmony: Embrace "Bloom for Interns" with access to mental and physical health benefits, paid time off, free lunch, and more!
  • Impactful Projects: Contribute to meaningful projects where your work will see the light of day, allowing you to Make it Matter.
  • Exclusive Networking: Opportunities to attend "Speaker Series" and "Get2Knows" to connect with executives and departmental leaders.
  • Vibrant Community: Build connections with fellow interns through after-work social events, virtual gatherings, and local city activities.
  • Relocation Support: Housing assistance to help you comfortably settle into your new location.
  • Path to Full-Time: A chance to explore a long-term career at MongoDB, with the possibility of receiving a full-time offer upon completion of your internship.

MongoDB internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for 10 consecutive weeks, typically running from June until August. All interns are considered hybrid employees, designated the "in office" working model, and are expected to be in their office location 3-5 days a week.
