Role Overview
The Data Scientist - AI Search & Information Retrieval will join the Core Services group in our Warsaw office. In this role, you will benchmark, evaluate, and help shape the future of search and information retrieval. You will explore how users interact with search features and AI products, driving improvements in retrieval and ranking models.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain benchmark sets for vector, lexical, and user-contextual search.
- Design experiments to analyze search patterns and information needs.
- Evaluate embedding models, cross-encoders, and textualization strategies.
- Assess alternative vector databases and query parameters to enhance retrieval quality.
- Extend benchmarks into next-generation models combining multiple signals.
- Interpret experimental results to guide technical direction.
- Collaborate with AI engineers, ML Ops, and product teams to deploy scalable features.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a Data Scientist or Research Scientist role focusing on search, NLP, or ML-driven products.
- Hands-on experience with vector databases, embeddings, cross-encoders, and evaluation methodologies.
- Expertise in experimental design, A/B testing, and data analysis.
- Ability to translate complex user interaction data into actionable insights.
- Strong communication skills for presenting technical evaluation results.
- Bonus: Experience with large-scale user behavior data and proactive evaluation frameworks.
