The Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music and Performance is seeking a Research Assistant to contribute to the ARC Discovery project Climate Vocabularies: New Methodologies for Music and Science Communication. This inter-faculty collaboration aims to develop an innovative framework for transdisciplinary music-science collaboration via new creative works. The project focuses on how music can enhance environmental storytelling to create more compelling and emotionally resonant climate messaging, and how engagement with climate science can lead to innovations in music.
In this role, you will be based at the Clayton campus, working part-time (0.4 FTE) for a 3-year fixed-term appointment with a remuneration of $83,280 – $113,025 pa Level A (plus 17% employer superannuation).
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced research both independently and collaboratively.
- Produce high-quality refereed publications and conference papers.
- Develop ethics proposals in line with university guidelines.
- Analyse data from interviews and surveys using appropriate methods.
- Systematically review relevant literature to inform the project.
- Prepare comprehensive research reports and presentations.
- Contribute actively to research funding applications.
- Attend project meetings, conferences, and seminars.
- Engage with stakeholders to foster collaboration and disseminate findings.
- Support administrative and professional activities crucial to project success.

As the successful candidate for this Research Assistant role, you will possess:
