About the Role
The Principal Materials Engineer at Molex serves as a key contributor in polymer materials. In this role, you will manage complex technical projects related to materials and process technology innovation, selection, specification, evaluation, deployment, failure analysis, and testing. You will support technology transfers and share knowledge with suppliers, external collaborators, and customers.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver on strategic project commitments based on technical needs and stakeholder engagement.
- Provide materials application engineering support for product development and manufacturing.
- Monitor R&D activities via literature reviews, seminars, and supplier visits.
- Create and secure intellectual property through patents and publications.
- Conduct problem solving and failure analysis consultations.
- Review and update Molex Engineering Specifications for raw materials.
- Support knowledge sharing through technical seminars and meetings.
- Adhere to Molex Total Quality Management, Six Sigma, ISO, and EH&S systems.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science/Engineering or related field with 4+ years of experience in polymer materials and manufacturing processes. Experience with materials testing tools (FTIR, DSC, DMA, SEM, GC-MS, GPC, tensile testing) and project management using SPC and DOE methods is required. Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage projects effectively is essential. Travel up to 10% is required.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD and additional experience in polymer materials, with a track record of patents and publications. Prior work at a thermoplastic materials supplier and familiarity with predictive tools for product-level performance is advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary ranges from $120,000 to $160,000 annually, with variable pay options. Molex offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and more.
