Job Summary
The Patient Care Technician - Med/Surg 8th Floor Nights, under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, assists the nursing staff in providing basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients. This includes personal hygiene, activities of daily living, and mobility support. The role also involves maintaining a safe and clean environment and may require the transportation of medications as authorized by Pharmacy Services.
Core Job Responsibilities
Under the direction of a charge nurse, you will:
- Assist in personal hygiene, bed making, ambulation and positioning.
- Support daily living activities for non-acutely ill patients.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment.
- Transport medications as defined by Pharmacy Services.
- Correctly identify patients before any care or intervention.
- Report any patient concerns to the primary caregiver.
- Record vital signs, intake/output, and weights.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Education, Experience & Certification
Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required: Basic life support and behavior management training to be completed by end of the probationary period and maintained while in position.

Additional Job Details
This is a night shift position on the 8th Floor, with a 12.50 hour shift and FTE of 0.75. It is represented by UFCW Union 2006.
