Most design tools bolt AI onto old workflows. We’re building one where the AI actually does the design work.

Moda is building an AI-native design tool that turns a prompt into fully editable, on-brand visual assets on a real canvas. This includes assets like slides, social posts, one-pagers, PDFs, diagrams, and UI designs. Instead of simply bolting AI onto traditional design software, we’re developing a system where an AI agent can generate and edit real visuals on your behalf, while ensuring everything remains editable and under your control.

For this Founding Engineer role, we’re seeking a generalist engineer who is enthusiastic about working across product, graphics, and AI. It is perfectly acceptable if you lean more towards backend, frontend, ML, or systems development. What truly matters is your ability to own challenging problems from end to end and operate with a high degree of urgency.

Some Of The Things You Might Work On

• Contributing core product features across our Python backend and TypeScript frontend.
• Building our rendering engine and canvas stack (WebGPU).
• Architecting AI agents for design generation and editing, alongside maintaining evaluation and Reinforcement Learning (RL) pipelines.
• Developing technical tooling, infrastructure, and internal AI systems to significantly accelerate our development process.

You Bring

• Experience shipping products that have been used by a significant number of people.
• The ability to operate independently and with high urgency.
• A strong focus on product quality and user experience, not solely on technical elegance.
• (Bonus) Prior experience starting a company or joining one very early.

A note on seniority: We value growth potential (slope) much more than current experience level (y-intercept) and are open to a diverse range of backgrounds and experience levels.
