About the Role

The Space Systems Researcher Engineer at MIT Lincoln Laboratory will tackle demanding space-related security challenges. Working together with the US Space Force, Air Force, and Intelligence Community, you will provide unbiased analysis and innovative solutions that shape national defense strategy.

Who We Are

The Space Systems Analysis and Test Group comprises skilled scientists and engineers with deep and broad space systems experience. The team is at the forefront of technology, ready to adopt new innovations, and communicates solutions to a wide range of audiences.

What Will You Do?

You will enjoy a dynamic role by engaging in multiple projects with diverse responsibilities. Examples include:

  • Computational Physics: Develop modeling software for astrodynamics toolkits covering satellite propagation, guidance laws, sensors, state estimation, and tracking.
  • Hardware Prototyping: Design and produce developmental hardware systems and sensors while conducting measurement campaigns.
  • Program Management: Develop technical strategy, coordinate teams, and communicate with sponsors to implement solutions.
  • New Study Development: Engage with sponsors and the community to develop studies supporting gap analysis.
  • Signal Processing: Design tools to process observational data and analyze it against theoretical models.

What We Require

A strong technical background is essential. Requirements include:

  • PhD in a STEM field OR Master’s with 5+ years relevant experience
  • Ability to think broadly and develop unique insights
  • Experience in communicating complex concepts clearly
  • Proficiency with an object-oriented programming language
  • Willingness to work on-site during standard business hours
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background checks and obtain a Secret level DoD clearance

Additional Information
