About The Job

Within Mistral's Applied AI team, the Applied Science works closely with the research team to deliver co-training projects—from pre-training through post-training.

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to embed within our Applied Science organization. This role is critical to ensuring seamless execution of technical projects—from helping build the Applied Science product roadmap, tracking research papers and blog posts to maintaining the health of all Applied Science product verticals. You will also drive the customer experience process, helping clients onboard to our products, including highly technical cluster setups.

This role requires a unique blend of strong technical proficiency, project management expertise, and cross-functional leadership to align scientific innovation with operational excellence.

What You Will Do

  • Technical Program Management
    • Oversee the tracking and dissemination of technical papers, blog posts, and research outputs for Applied Science projects
    • Conduct health checks for all Applied Science verticals, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operational efficiency, and support execution
    • Design and operationalise systems for tracking project progress, surfacing dependencies, and maintaining momentum across teams
  • Customer Experience & Onboarding
    • Develop and refine a customer experience process to onboard clients to products, including cluster setup and technical integration
    • Act as a bridge between Applied Science teams and customers, ensuring smooth adoption and addressing technical challenges
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Applied Science, Engineering, Product, and Solutions teams to align technical projects with business objectives
    • Facilitate GPU allocation, quota management, and infrastructure workflows to ensure resources are scaled and accessible
  • Process Improvement & Communication
    • Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity
    • Drive structured communication loops, including bi-weekly updates, all-hands meetings, and company-wide digests, synthesising technical details into clear, strategic narratives
  • Risk & Stakeholder Management
    • Identify potential risks and issues in project lifecycles, developing contingency plans to mitigate them
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, partners, and clients, ensuring alignment and transparency

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in technical program management, operations, or research coordination, preferably in AI/ML or research-heavy organizations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience structuring ambiguous projects into clear deliverables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize technical details for diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional initiatives and manage complex stakeholder landscapes
  • Familiarity with model development pipelines (pre-training, post-training, release readiness)
