About the Role: Technical Lead, Applied AI

Mistral AI is seeking a Technical Lead, Applied AI to drive technical strategy, execution, and delivery of complex AI solutions for enterprise customers. In this role, you will lead project teams of Applied AI Engineers, serving as the primary technical contact for strategic customers from pre-sales through post-implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver critical lines of code for complex projects.
  • Lead and mentor technical teams in deploying GenAI applications.
  • Drive pre-sales technical discussions and translate customer requirements.
  • Design and implement complex AI systems including fine-tuning and RAG.
  • Stay updated with emerging AI trends and integrate customer feedback.

About You

You are fluent in English with a PhD or Master’s in AI, Machine Learning, Computer Science or related field. With over 7/8 years of experience in AI/ML and significant technical leadership experience, you have a proven track record delivering complex AI projects. Your expertise includes fine-tuning LLMs, advanced RAG, agentic systems, and NLP application deployment. Proficiency in Python, PyTorch and familiarity with modern frameworks and cloud platforms is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in open-source contributions in the AI space.
  • Customer-facing roles with a focus on enterprise AI adoption.
  • Experience in influencing product direction based on market needs.
