About the Lead Platform Engineer Role

As a Lead Platform Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of the core platform. This is a hands-on leadership position where you will guide architectural direction, spearhead complex infrastructure initiatives, and continuously improve deployment pipelines, observability, and overall systems design. You will contribute code, act as a technical escalation point, and collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure secure and scalable integrations. The platform primarily utilizes Python, Flask, Pytest, Mypy, Docker, PostgreSQL, SQS, S3, and Terraform, all hosted on AWS, with daily deployments.

What You’ll Do

• Technical Leadership: Own platform architecture, ensuring high availability, resilience, and scalability. Lead design and delivery of cross-team projects affecting core infrastructure. Improve deployment workflows, monitoring, and performance. Anticipate scaling and failure scenarios, ensuring robust system design. Establish and promote best practices in reliability, testing, and operations. Contribute code, conduct reviews, and ship production changes daily. Manage secure and repeatable integrations with third-party systems.
• Collaboration & Team Leadership: Partner with product, design, backend, frontend, and trading teams to align platform decisions with business goals. Manage and develop a small engineering team, fostering high performance and strong technical judgment. Mentor engineers across the organization, strengthening delivery, architecture, and decision-making. Lead technical discussions, planning, and delegation to maintain pace and quality. Drive ownership and accountability across the Platform function. Participate in hiring and help shape the platform engineering discipline. Reinforce a culture focused on reliability, quality, and continuous improvement.

What You Bring

• 7+ years of engineering experience, with deep proficiency in Python and cloud-native systems.
• Experience leading or managing engineers in platform, backend, or infrastructure roles.
• Strong track record building scalable, resilient, distributed systems.
• Ability to transform ambiguous technical problems into clear, actionable plans.
• Demonstrated impact on improving reliability, performance, and developer experience.
• Hands-on leadership with strength in both coding and architectural thinking.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
• Experience integrating third-party systems at scale.
• Familiarity with modern delivery practices and a strong commitment to quality and testing.
