Missionary.com is looking for a thoughtful, detail-oriented, and mission-driven Associate Editor to help support, strengthen, and scale our editorial efforts. This role is centered on faithful craftsmanship and clarity. You’ll come alongside the Editorial Director and the broader editorial team to support key publishing initiatives, helping shepherd books, articles, and other content through to publication with care and excellence.

This role sits at the intersection of craft and mission. You’ll work closely with editors, freelance authors, and internal teams to keep editorial initiatives moving forward smoothly. Key Responsibilities

Editorial Production & Execution

  • Collaborate with the Editorial Director on developmental notes, copy-editing, and proofreading for new books and other print projects, helping ensure each title moves toward publication on time and with clarity.
  • Develop, copy-edit, proofread, and publish weekly blog articles in close partnership with the editorial team and bi-vocational freelance authors and subject-matter experts in the field.
  • Help maintain the weekly written content calendar by coordinating drafts, revisions, and timelines so that web and print pieces are carried through to completion.

Writing & Content Development

  • Research and write articles for Missionary’s blog, including brief biographies and other short-form pieces as opportunity arises, ensuring each contribution is faithful, accurate, and well-crafted.
  • Write narration for Missionary’s weekly podcast and occasional video scripts, supporting audio and video efforts with thoughtful, story-driven copy.
  • Transcribe long and short passages of text, including books and audio recordings, while preserving accuracy and nuance.
  • Help shape content that clearly communicates biblical wisdom about missions and the work of the Great Commission.

Cross-functional Editorial Support

  • Provide punctual, professional copy-writing and copy-editing services to teammates across Missionary as needed.
  • Work closely with marketing, events, and product teams to ensure published materials are well-supported and clearly communicated, reflecting Missionary’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence.
  • Support consistency of voice, style, and grammar across all Missionary communications, helping every piece read as part of a unified body of work.

Tools & Workflow Stewardship

  • Maintain proficiency in industry-standard digital and print production tools, including Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Webflow, Google Suite, and AI transcription tools and prompts.
  • Help document editorial workflows and standards so that processes remain organized, accessible, and reproducible across the team.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional writing and editing experience, preferably in book publishing.
  • Highly competent in professional English grammar, style, and usage.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and effectively in long and short form, online and in print.
  • Proficient in industry-standard digital and print production tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Webflow, Google Suite, and AI transcription tools and prompts.
