Job Description

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a skilled Senior System/Network Administrator to support our customer at the Naval Support Facility Deveselu in Romania. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, maintaining network/system documentation and be able to make recommendations for network enhancements. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements scalable and robust network solutions to support organizational needs.
  • Plans and executes network upgrades and expansion to ensure optimal performance and capacity.
  • Monitors network performance and troubleshoots and resolves highly complex problems to maintain operating efficiency and ensure quality transmission service on the network.
  • Uses subject matter expertise to diagnose and solve issues and has authority to deviate from standard operating procedures.
  • Provides technical guidance to IT staff and end users regarding network related issues.
  • Develops and implements network security policies and procedures to protect the organization's data and resources.
  • Configures and maintains network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and wireless access points.
  • Implements and manages security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems and VPNs.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including data protection and privacy requirements.
  • Performs regular backup and recovery tests to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Coordinates with other IT teams to ensure comprehensive business continuity planning.
  • Maintains detailed documentation of network configurations, changes and procedures.
  • Prepares reports on network performance, security incidents and other key metrics.
  • Provides recommendations for network improvements based on analysis and industry best practices.
  • Leads and manages network-related projects from planning through execution and completion.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develops and maintains disaster recovery plans to ensure network resilience and continuity in case of emergencies and for combat conditions I, II, and III.
  • Performs all duties as above in austere, disrupted, degraded, intermittent, low-bandwidth (DDIL) environments and combat conditions I, II, and III.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Client experience requirements: Between 6 to 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Client education requirements: BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a relevant field; Candidate must have an undergraduate degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • 4 years of additional equivalent experience can be substituted for a BA/BS degree.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Understanding of network security practices and tools.
  • Hands-on experience in network performance monitoring, troubleshooting and testing.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude.

Preferred Requirements

  • An active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Relevant certification, such as a CCNA, CCNP or CompTIA Network+.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms, such as VMware.
