About the Role: Editor

The Editor at Mission Critical Partners is a professional responsible for developing, editing, formatting, and finalizing high-quality technical documents. This role ensures all documentation adheres to defined templates, standards, and client requirements. You will perform quality assurance (QA) reviews for clarity, conciseness, grammar, organization, and consistency. Strong writing skills are essential to translate complex information into concise, client-facing documents. The position demands exceptional attention to detail, sound editorial judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high quality standards and meeting deadlines. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Edit a diverse range of documents including technical reports, proposals, guidelines, newsletters, articles, diagrams, and procurement/specifications documents.
  • Provide light content writing and revision support for proposals and deliverables, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with organizational standards.
  • Complete editing assignments in accordance with defined standards and best practices for content organization, flow, clarity, conciseness, style, terminology, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews to identify errors, inconsistencies, and ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Apply approved templates, formatting, and style standards for quality control.
  • Meet deadlines by establishing priorities and target timelines for information gathering, editing, peer review, and approval processes.
  • Produce high-quality work efficiently to support business and project objectives.
  • Work independently while effectively collaborating with project teams and leadership.
  • Continuously assess and refine work processes to improve productivity and quality.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position holds no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Five years of relevant experience in editing technical documents, proposals, reports, and articles.
  • A Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, or five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a similar field is preferred.
  • Background working within public safety and justice communications organizations and technologies is considered a valuable asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • No certificates, licenses, or registrations are required for this role.

  • Documented proficiency in English-language usage, including correct spelling, definition of words, and adherence to grammar and composition rules.
  • Ability to edit a wide variety of technical and non-technical material for professional audiences.
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and manage multiple efforts to meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment while also working independently.
  • A positive attitude with a passion for attention to detail.
  • A valid driver’s license.
