The Excel team at Microsoft is building an AI agent that empowers every customer to work with spreadsheets like an expert. This AI agent, a Copilot, combines users' domain understanding with its ability to build powerful, tailored workbooks. As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will play a crucial role in solving real-world problems that traditionally took hours, now achievable in minutes.
Excel is a vital tool across countless industries and contexts, meaning our AI agent must support a wide range of domains and be adaptable to diverse user needs.
In this role, you will enable us to collaborate with customers and partners, acquiring the necessary tools and data to tailor our agent for various scenarios. You will work directly with users to deeply understand what constitutes high-quality spreadsheets, translating this critical knowledge into rapid improvements in the AI agent and its capabilities.

Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to acquire essential data for tailoring Excel's agentic capabilities to specific use cases and industries.
- Transform collected data and corresponding user insights into actionable forms to enhance our AI models effectively.
- Scale our approach to encompass the wide breadth of tasks users complete daily using Excel.
- Embody Microsoft’s Culture and Values in all daily work and team collaborations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience with 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These include passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., for sample documentation, product demos).
