We are seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join our Azure Security Monitoring team. This team builds large-scale microservices that process terabytes of data daily to protect Microsoft Azure. In this role, you will design and build critical infrastructure focused on securing Azure compute resources, playing a pivotal role in shaping Microsoft's security future. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-scale services forming the backbone of Security Monitoring.
  • Execute security controls, defenses, and countermeasures to intercept and prevent internal or external attacks or attempts to infiltrate company systems.
  • Research attempted or successful efforts to compromise systems security.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners within the Microsoft Security organization to design and build features that protect and secure Microsoft's first-party products and services.
  • Work within a culture of continuous learning, adaptation, reflection, and growth.
  • Mentor peers to ensure engineering best practices and maintain a high-quality code bar.
  • Champion a 'can-do' attitude across the organization.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

A Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field AND 1+ year(s) of experience in the software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat modeling, cybersecurity, anomaly detection, Security Operations Center (SOC) detection, threat analytics, security incident and event management (SIEM), information technology (IT), or operations incident response; OR a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field AND 2+ years of experience in the software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat modeling, cybersecurity, anomaly detection, Security Operations Center (SOC) detection, threat analytics, security incident and event management (SIEM), information technology (IT), or operations incident response; OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

The ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements is necessary for this role. These include, but are not limited to, the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

A Doctorate in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field AND 3+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat modeling, cybersecurity, or anomaly detection; OR a Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field AND 6+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat modeling, cybersecurity, or anomaly detection; OR a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field AND 8+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat modeling, cybersecurity, or anomaly detection; OR equivalent experience. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, SANS, OSCP, or Security+ are preferred. 5+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cybersecurity, anomaly detection, Security Operations Center (SOC) detection, threat analytics, security incident and event management (SIEM), and operations incident response OR a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field. 3+ years of experience programming in C++/C# or Python or Scala or similar technologies.
