This Senior Researcher role is part of the Office of the Corporate Vice President, Chief Economist at Microsoft’s Seattle-area headquarters. The role is ideal for economists who value both academic research excellence and significant real-world impact.
Responsibilities
Work closely with Chief Economist Michael Schwarz and a team of economists and data scientists on projects including:
- Advertising effectiveness and media economics
- Market design and cloud marketplaces
- Search auctions and optimal pricing contracts

- Machine learning for prediction and causal inference
- Structural demand estimation and subscription economics

Qualifications
Required: Doctorate in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

Compensation & Benefits
The base pay range varies by location with a typical range of USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year, and higher ranges in select metro areas.
