Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. Our product portfolio includes Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Within Azure Data, the Microsoft Fabric platform team builds and maintains the operating system and provides customers a unified data stack to run an entire data estate. The platform offers a unified experience, unified governance, a unified business model, and a unified architecture.

Fabric Capacities are the driving force behind all these experiences, providing the computing power necessary for tasks such as data modeling, data warehousing, business intelligence, and machine learning. Capacities offer a simple and unified way to scale resources based on customer demand, empowering organizations to harness the full potential of data and analytics, driving innovation and efficiency.

We are currently seeking a Senior Product Manager who can engage with customers and contribute to defining and executing our vision for Fabric Capacities, enabling business users and data scientists across all organizations. An ideal candidate is passionate about technology, solving customer needs, and has demonstrated the ability to mentor and be a good team player.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and build experiences across multiple feature areas (e.g., product, service) across divisional boundaries.
  • Identify customers’ unmet or unknown needs for complex situations, influencing stakeholders and other team members while gaining buy-in.
  • Identify market opportunities for enhancements or development and new products/services across multiple feature areas.
  • Execute on major opportunities to evangelize feature areas with internal and external stakeholders, partners, analysts, and customers via presentations, blog posts, social media, and other forums.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and include different views when collaborating with Product Marketing, Business Planning, and Engineering to identify product release criteria, customer acquisition, usage, retention, and monetization strategies.
  • Serve as an expert in identifying data-informed, long-term investment opportunities, evaluating tradeoffs, and prioritizing investments in consultation across multiple cross-organizational partners.
  • Define and evangelize business impact, success criteria, and performance metrics and fundamentals (e.g., quality, privacy, security, compliance, accessibility, cost of goods sold) of multiple feature areas.
  • Influence and drive engagement with cross-functional internal partners, external partners, early adopting customers, and senior leadership to gather input and garner support for product/service vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Define or influence the long-term vision and strategy for feature areas based on a deep understanding of customer needs, market and user research, competitive landscape, and Microsoft’s business goals.
  • Collaborate with partner teams to build golden configurations and lead model scenario walkthroughs to identify problems and needed contingencies.
  • Own and drive the roadmap for the multiple feature areas under your purview.
  • Define the feature set and partner with Design teams to connect multiple design factors to desired functionality and product vision.
  • Build trust with a targeted selection of customers across sectors, orchestrating communication to capture feedback and insights through the product development lifecycle.
  • Identify features to deprecate, developing, articulating, and presenting reasoning and tradeoffs involved.
  • Serve as an expert to partner with others (e.g., Data Science, Software Engineering, User Research) to collect performance metrics, monitor progress, derive insights, and drive productive courses of action.
  • Embody Microsoft's culture and values.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
  • 4+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
  • 4+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).
