Azure Hyperscale Networking/Physical Network is the team behind the physical networks in the regional and datacenters that enable Cloud & AI services. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build & operate the network that powers the world's largest cloud and AI. PhyNet Network Health group is responsible for new Network Design Operational Implementation, Engineering and support various 1st party groups in Microsoft and this team is critical to the success of Microsoft, as services are rapidly growing and so is the need for an increasingly reliant network.

Responsibilities
- Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
- Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
- Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
- Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
- Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Technical experience in network design, development, and automationOR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
- OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND technical experience in network design, development, and automationOR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Other Qualifications:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience delivering network designs into production and experience with live site accountability for a network.
- Experience in networking, scripting, and software development.
- Familiarity/hands on experience with any network device operating systems (Sonic, Arista, Cisco, Juniper).
- Cisco CCNA (or equivalent) and experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and Windows servers.
- Writing automation in languages such as Python, Powershell or C#.
- Writing scripts that use REST APIs, Syslog, xml, SNMP, and other Network Management Systems.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals along with a basic understanding of IP networking MPLS, BGP, ISIS, OSPF and Anycast routing.
- Managing and troubleshooting network issues.
- Experience working on large scale networks.
- Leadership, coordination, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently on complex tasks.
- Motivated to drive leading edge technologies.
- Understanding of TCP/IP, BGP and AnyCast.
