Overview
The Microsoft 365 Copilot Reasoning Science team is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to drive the core innovation behind Business Chat, the fastest-growing product in Microsoft history. This role leverages cutting-edge AI, integrating user data across Microsoft Graph, Microsoft 365 apps, and the web to transform words into powerful productivity tools.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will:
- Define and manage experiments from inception to shipment, including building ML pipelines and algorithms.
- Own projects end-to-end, learning new skills as needed.
- Influence senior leadership through detailed written and oral presentations.
- Develop internal tools to accelerate workflows when off-the-shelf solutions fall short.
- Contribute to strategic planning and technical roadmaps using the latest research.
- Mentor team engineers and applied scientists while recruiting new talent.
- Support and develop a thriving applied science culture within MSAI.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include a degree in a relevant field and corresponding industry experience (Bachelor's + 4 years, Master's + 3 years, or Doctorate + 1 year or equivalent experience). Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check is mandatory.
Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees with additional experience, a record of publications, production-level machine learning system expertise, proficiency in Python and LLM prompting, and a strong ability to work within dynamic, cross-functional teams.
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay for this role ranges between USD $119,800 and $234,700 per year, with location-specific ranges in key regions. Additional benefits and compensation details can be found on Microsoft’s careers site.
