About the Role

Join the Surface AI Subsystem Team at Microsoft where you will architect and deliver the foundational AI infrastructure and intelligence layer that makes Surface devices smarter, safer, and more adaptive. As a Senior AI Engineer, you will shape the infrastructure, design systems supporting Model Context Protocol (MCP), and enable secure LLM-driven experiences at hyperscale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead orchestration of multimodal AI scenarios and coordinate with subsystem teams.
  • Design and implement on-device AI agents for autonomous behaviors.
  • Develop and deploy AI-powered tools to enhance developer productivity.
  • Collaborate with security and platform teams for secure system design.
  • Align Surface AI solutions with Windows AI Foundry and contribute to protocol standardization.
  • Deliver AI-assisted debugging, diagnostics, and productivity tools.
  • Support enterprise readiness with manageability and compliance standards.
  • Embody Microsoft’s Culture and Values.

Qualifications

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 4+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience, and 3+ years in designing and deploying production solutions. Experience with Windows Systems, telemetry, inference pipelines, and secure system design is essential along with 2+ years in AI systems architecture.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degrees or equivalent experience with strong coding skills (C, C++, C#, Python), deep familiarity with the Microsoft AI ecosystem, multimodal AI, agentic workflows, and proven collaboration across cross-functional teams.
