Overview
The Security Researcher role at Microsoft is part of the Global Hunting, Oversight, and Strategic Triage (GHOST) team. It focuses on performing threat hunting, investigations, developing threat intelligence, and synthesizing research findings into actionable recommendations. The role supports a global team in identifying attacker TTPs and advising customers to protect their digital assets.
Responsibilities
- Perform deep analysis of attacker activity in on-premises and cloud environments.
- Identify potential threats to enable proactive defenses.
- Provide recommendations to improve customer cybersecurity postures.
- Drive product and tooling improvements by conveying research findings.
- Collaborate with teams to share research and drive change.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in statistics, mathematics, computer science or related field, with at least 1 year of relevant experience. Ability to pass Microsoft security screenings including the Cloud Background Check and Citizenship Verification.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree with 2+ years of practical experience in software development, large-scale computing, modeling, cybersecurity, or anomaly detection.
