Overview

Microsoft Research Internships provide a dynamic environment for research careers with a network of world-class research labs led by globally-recognized scientists and engineers. In the role of Research Intern Artificial Intelligence, you will develop and implement cutting-edge technology in artificial intelligence with a focus on world modeling.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • Conduct research on world modeling and propose new frameworks.
  • Document methodologies, simulations, and findings in detail.
  • Present research results and insights to teams and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with fellow interns, researchers and mentors.
  • Engage in a 12-week immersive internship experience, typically during summer.

Additional Responsibilities

Beyond research and analysis, you will:

  • Test and validate new approaches in world modeling.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on experimental methodologies.
  • Quickly identify pros and cons of existing methods and propose alternatives.

Qualifications

Required: Enrollment in a Master or PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.

Preferred: Ability to work both independently and in a team, strong programming skills in Python and PyTorch, familiarity with world modeling methods, and experience with LLM, RL, Computer Vision, or Signal Processing. Publications in top-tier conferences (e.g., CVPR, NeurIPS) are a plus.

Internship Details

Interns are expected to be physically located at their manager's Microsoft worksite. This internship is available year-round, with a typical summer start. Compensation in the Canadian market ranges from CAD 5,600 to CAD 10,000 per month.
