Microsoft offers dynamic research internships in world-class labs. Interns work with leading scientists and contribute to innovations across computing, healthcare, economics, and the environment.
This internship focuses on improving reliability and trustworthiness of AI systems. The Research Intern studies large language model based-assistant behaviors under incomplete data conditions and explores detection and adaptation methods for safer, responsible, and robust AI in enterprise settings.
Responsibilities
Interns put theory into practice by collaborating with mentors and peers. Activities include:
- Partnering with mentors and fellow researchers.
- Presenting findings and contributing to collaborative projects.
- Engaging in a vibrant research community for 12 weeks.
Qualifications
Required: Enrollment in a PhD program in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
Preferred: Proficiency in Python, experience with ML libraries and large language models, and a background in machine learning, NLP or human-centered AI research with publications or projects.
Additional Information
Interns must be physically located at their manager’s Microsoft worksite during the internship. Application materials include a cover letter, work/research samples, and at least two reference letters.
The base pay ranges from USD $6,710 to $13,270 per month and varies by location. Additional benefits may apply.
